Built for a 1930s house where the chimney was bricked up for forty years, Vitrona 973 is meant to disappear into the wall and leave nothing visible but fire.
Every lining panel and the baffle are stock parts — an insert that is built into a wall has to be serviceable from the front, and this one is.
The firebox is steel & cast iron: a steel body heats quickly, the cast iron door and top hold that heat after the fire has burnt down. Twenty seasons of use leave the paint tired long before the steel gives up.

Care
