Vitrona 406 Complete Insert System with Surround

Built for an open-plan room with a staircase that swallows the heat, Vitrona 406 is meant to disappear into the wall and leave nothing visible but fire.

The firebox is steel & vermiculite: vermiculite keeps the firebox hot enough to burn the smoke, which is where the efficiency comes from.

Every lining panel and the baffle are stock parts — an insert that is built into a wall has to be serviceable from the front, and this one is. Twenty seasons of use leave the paint tired long before the steel gives up.

Care

Clean the glass cold with damp ash on newspaper — it is mildly abrasive and free. Have the flue swept once a season.
