Vestra 423 Garden Fireplace with Oven

Left outside, Vestra 423 in cast iron does what you would expect: rain does nothing to it that a season of fires has not already.

It is cast iron: slow to warm and slow to let go, which is the whole argument for cast iron in a room used all evening.

Nothing on it is painted where the flame touches — paint on the inside of a fire bowl is a decision you regret the first evening. The door hinge is adjustable, which is what keeps the seal tight in year eight.

Care

Tip the ash out after every use, or wet ash will eat the steel from the inside. Cover it if you can; nothing here minds rain otherwise.
