Control is by remote and by the panel behind the top edge, so a lost remote is an annoyance rather than a problem.

LED flame beds are the part that dates fastest. The module in this one is a serviceable part rather than a sealed assembly.

The case is powder-coated steel: a baked coating on steel, which survives being knocked about far better than wet paint. Nothing in it is glued: the parts that face the fire come out with a screwdriver.
