Kaldera 681 Fire Pit with Plancha Ring, 800 mm

The base of Kaldera 681 keeps the fire 150 mm off the ground, which is what saves a timber deck from scorch marks.

It is corten steel: it weathers to a stable rust skin that then protects the steel underneath — the colour is the point.

Nothing on it is painted where the flame touches — paint on the inside of a fire bowl is a decision you regret the first evening. The door hinge is adjustable, which is what keeps the seal tight in year eight.

Care

Tip the ash out after every use, or wet ash will eat the steel from the inside. Cover it if you can; nothing here minds rain otherwise.
