Built for a renovated barn with six metres to the ridge, Brandel 986 is meant to disappear into the wall and leave nothing visible but fire.
The firebox is steel & vermiculite: vermiculite keeps the firebox hot enough to burn the smoke, which is where the efficiency comes from.
Every lining panel and the baffle are stock parts — an insert that is built into a wall has to be serviceable from the front, and this one is. Nothing in it is glued: the parts that face the fire come out with a screwdriver.

Care
Clean the glass cold with damp ash on newspaper — it is mildly abrasive and free. Have the flue swept once a season.
