Brandel 402 Fireplace Insert, 700 mm Front

An insert is only as good as the air behind it: Brandel 402 takes a 100 mm duct for outside air, so the room is not competing with the fire.

The door runs on adjustable hinges with a compression latch. A door that no longer pulls up tight is the usual reason an insert starts smoking into the room.

The firebox is steel & cast iron: a steel body heats quickly, the cast iron door and top hold that heat after the fire has burnt down. Firebricks and baffles are wear parts — they are listed as spares and take ten minutes to change.

Care

Clean the glass cold with damp ash on newspaper — it is mildly abrasive and free. Have the flue swept once a season.
