Bornholm 158 Square Fire Pit with Grill

The base of Bornholm 158 keeps the fire 150 mm off the ground, which is what saves a timber deck from scorch marks.

Nothing on it is painted where the flame touches — paint on the inside of a fire bowl is a decision you regret the first evening.

It is cast iron: slow to warm and slow to let go, which is the whole argument for cast iron in a room used all evening. Twenty seasons of use leave the paint tired long before the steel gives up.

Tip the ash out after every use, or wet ash will eat the steel from the inside. Cover it if you can; nothing here minds rain otherwise.
